Amp Electric Vehicles, a company that has previously fitted electric drivetrains in SUVs like the Chevrolet Equinox and Mercedes-Benz ML, has designed an all-electric version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It will set its first debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2012.

The Amp Jeep will be equipped with a 37-kilowatt-hour battery pack, and have range of approximately 100 miles. “The converted Jeep would be price-competitive with the Tesla Model S, an electric sedan that in base form is priced from $57,400 before a $7,500 federal tax credit,” says The New York Times.
Before this the AMP EV has converted 2011 Mercedes-Benz M350 into an electric car. The batteries used lithium iron phosphate. Power cruising range close to 160 km. Acceleration 0-100 kph in under 10 seconds. You need tospend 6 hours to charge the battery with 220 volt power source. With a 110-volt battery will be fully charged in 15.5 hours.
